What is the origin of the word jewelry: it has many variations. It appears that we owe it to the word ‘biz’ in celtic language, meaning ‘finger’, and, by extension, the word ‘bizou’ in breton was given signifying a ring for your finger.

In use since Antiquity, and particularly since the early Middle Ages, jewelry, in particular rings, are used to symbolise love, affiliation and fidelity in marital terms. During Roman times the early history of the ‘ring’ was a reflection of an increasing transformation of society.
